Asap Rocky is (for me) the only rapper who brought to the hip hop scene fashion designers from the haute sphere and underground brands as Pigalle without adding an ounce of vulgarity,(in the look of course, obviously not in the lyrics) which is in the hip hop industry almost an obligation to succeed. Most of the time, the mix bitches/ big cars/big asses/bling style don’t really match with white collars, Wang ‘s delicate sweats and clean leathers cuts.
But actually, Asap can proove the opposite without a doubt. A rapper who can easily bring a simple product from (an unknown but now famous) street wear label to a massive invasion on people’s heads, is certainly for his colleagues, a good style master to follow.
In the hip hop family, you have the Yeezy/Riri/Jay-z/B team who “kind of” try to approach the new Master with a massive Givenchy wardrobe, but too much gold and rococo prints, is maybe good for the scene when you are a billionaire but worn on the street by day, its another deal. Unless that you wanna look like a chandelier or a Versaille ceiling. So, ASAP win.
And i think, thanks to ASAP, its just the beginning, of a new trend, the “i can be able to rap as a mofo and be dressed like the best” (ouuyeahh)
